KRISTEN E. SCHMITS, MD

A native Tennessean, Dr. Schmits earned her undergraduate degree from Yale University and attended medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. She subsequently completed a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Florida Health Science Center in Gainesville, FL. Dr. Schmits completed her dermatopathology fellowship training in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Florida. She is board-certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and dermatopathology.
After completing her training, she spent one year working at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida serving the veteran community. She later took a job in private practice working for Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery as a staff dermatopathologist for five years before joining the Naples Pathology Associates practice in May of 2022. Dr. Schmits is fluent in French and Spanish, and loves spending time with her three young children, her husband, and two Dalmatians. She also enjoys camping, swimming, running and relaxing on the beach.
